Merry Christmas

Hi,

Merry Christmas to all my followers and friends.  I hope you you have a great Christmas.

Do you remember the tatted wreaths I made in green with white and red berries,  link to the post  well one comment from Miranda saying she had done the pattern in white with red berries,  I thought it was a great idea so here is mine in white with red berries. I used Lizbeth thread no 20 in white and red burst. I think it looks lovely in white, I am sure I will be making more next year.
Have a nice day

Stamp it up CD Sunday Challenge

Hi,

This is the last challenge for the year from CD Sunday Challenge,  and one I did not think I would be doing but after a little thought here is my entry.                                                                                   I use my tree stamp and heat embossed it a few times with white, green and silver embossing powders onto black card,  added gems in red, green and white.  matted it on silver card.  The backing sheet is from Joanna Sheens Enchanted Christmas CD.  I put some red flowers in the corners at the bottom,  with some holly leaves,  and a die cut and then finished the card off which is from my Hubby with a red bow and silver peel off's.
By the way he does love the card,  I think I was heavy handed with the glue putting the gems on,  its showing a bit in the photo but not on the card, phew.
Hope you are ready for christmas I think I am now,  crossing fingers.
Take care

Art Deco Christmas

Hi,
Hopefully you are ready for christmas,  I am nearly there just a few more presents to wrap,  the shopping is done, not going near the shops again.
These are two cards I have made for my grand daughters,  now one is getting older I made them both more of less the same.
I used the Glitter and Glitz Art Deco Christmas CD for the image and backing sheet, and matted the images on gold card and added pink ribbon to match the dress.  I added glitter to the dress but it has not shown up very well in the photo.
I hope they like them.

Until we meet again take care

Mastering Tatting Book, 10/25 Motif Challenge

Hi,
Recently I brought Mastering Tatting book by Lindsay Rogers,  I must say I have fallen in love with this book,   I have really enjoyed doing some of the patterns from it,
The Bookmark above is on Page 45 called Daisy Bookmark I did add an extra daisies to the length as I felt it was not long enough,   I used Lizbeth thread No 20 in white and  Summer fun.

These two hearts from page 67 its from part of a Doily called Love in the mist,  and are done separately and then placed around the doily.   I used Purple and white and white and summer fun all are Lizbeth thread no 20.

Both patterns were fun to tat and their will more tatting from this book in the future.  Great book well worth the money and one to have in your own library of books.

Hope you have a nice weekend.

Dew Drop Pendant 9/25 motif challenge

Hi,
Its a mild but dull,   windy,  drizzly day here in Somerset,   Last night our local football team won their match in the FA football match and now they will play Manchester United on the 4th January 2015,  Its only a small ground so I wonder how they will fit in a Premier division football team into a 9,000 plus seater ground,  its great to see our little team meet up with one of the big boys.
This little pattern I made up recently and I called it Dew drop Pendant originally had flowers attached to it but them I found this lovely silver leaf in my stock and I ended up putting it in the middle,  with the blue beads on the middle ring of the clovers,  it was tatted in white lizbeth thread no 20.   The clovers decrease in size as it goes to the top point.
Here is the same little pattern again this time I placed a Tibetan silver owl in the middle.
This one is tatted in Lizbeth Purple thread no 20.
I am keeping the pattern to myself for the time being as I am not sure if I will release it or not,  I am not sure if anyone would want it.

Anyway I hope you like my Pendant, I know my grand daughter will want it as she is potty about Owls at the moment.    I hope to make a few more of these with different middles for my craft table over the next coming months.

Until we meet again  Take care

Knitted Chocolate Heart Shape Cakes

Hi,

Today I bring you my Chocolate Heart Shape cakes,  from the book 20 to Make Knitted Cakes,   I thought I would change the colours and use brown wool with a pale pink top and a red ribbon rose. As chocolate is a girls favourite food,  at least these don't melt away and as they are stuffed with toy stuffing they are washable and calorie free.
Until we meet again Take care

Tatted Door Wreaths, and Christmas Bells 8/25 Motif Challenge

Hi,
This is a pattern I did last year and I thought I would try it again,   This door wreath pattern was first started by Lady Tats last year.   The pattern is done with one shuttle with red thread and one with green,  The berries are Josephine rings.    I used Red Burst thread by Lizbeth and Green is Flora thread which I find hard to tat with.   This year I had some white on a shuttle to use up and I try it with white berries and I find it looks just as good,  either way its a nice pattern and I used the ribbon to match the berries.
The hanging part I used the colours alternatively on a chain using flipped and unfliped stitches.

These Christmas bells  this pattern is by Wanda Salmans 2007,   They were tatted using white Lizbeth thread no 20,  the middle one is plain with just a red bow at the top,   The two on the outside had seed beads added with a bow at the top.   Its a lovely pattern and quick to tat.  Link to Wanda's blog

Hope you have a lovely Day.

Song Titles - CD Sunday Challenge

 Hi,
This fortnight on the CD Sunday Challenge,   its Song Titles,  easy, hard whatever,  The night before they announced the challenge for this fortnight its was Strictly come dancing,  my inspiration hit me when I saw what the challenge was the next morning.......  not my best card but have you got it what song it is.
I used the image and the backing sheet from the image,  no I don't like the backing sheet, I was not sure when I printed it off and differently don't like it now.   Its from the Royal Horticultural Society CD Collection by Joanna Sheen,   I matted it onto one of the die cuts I had left from my friend,  only a few bits left now.   Found the gold peel off's houses and bicycle and placed them on rainbow card.  added ribbon and a music bar.
Now you must have got it,   of course its "Tulips from Amsterdam"   I love Amsterdam beautiful city, plenty to see and do and if you get a chance you can visit the diamond cutters and watch them cut diamonds.

I hope you are well and keeping warm,  its got a lot colder this week and bad weather coming in from tonight so stay safe.  until we meet again Take Care

Challenge # 46 Food and Drink Cardz 4 guyz

Hi,
This card is for the Food and Drink Challenge over at Cardz4Guyz blog,  I made this card a few weeks ago and never finished it off so it was really a good choice for this challenge.  Most men like a pint of beer so I thought this was a good choice.
I used an image from Klever Konstruction on the shelf Once in a lifetime Volume one,
I matted the image onto cream card and with gold peel off's around the outside,  and the backing paper that went with the image.   I white ribbon down the side, not sure if men's cards need any ribbon but I like to finish them off with something.  My photography has worked out a bit pale,  Wednesday it would have needed the flash as it was dull and dark all day yesterday the sun is shinning so I took the picture before the weather changes again.
Have a nice day and until we meet again Take care

P is for............... CD Sunday Challenge

Hi,
P is for.............  Pansies
This is the CD Sunday Challenge P is for...... well I choose an image from a new CD I was given for my birthday One Summers Day by Joanna Sheen.  I must say this is a lovely CD with some lovely images.
I used the Pansy image, matted it onto silver card,  and then decoupage it with one of the others on the sheet,  it fitted perfectly.  I used the backing paper that went with the image.  I added the green  ribbon and the With Love from the same image sheet.
At last the sun is shinning here after days of damp, dull and foggy days.
Hope you have a nice day

Hooray Finished at Last, My Tatted Hankie

Hi,
This is my take with me project,   its stays with me and when I get time where ever I am usually waiting for Hospital appointments for myself or Vernon,  I do a bit.
At last its finished,   its a pale pink hankie and the edging I did was tatted in Altin Basak thread (Turkish thread) no 50 white,  the pattern I used is from Renulek's snowflake mat,  Its so pale I found it hard to photo this is a close up of the pattern.
Hope you like it.

Happy Birthday Vernon

Hi,

Today is Vernon's Birthday (my Hubby)  this is the card I made for him,   Oh why are Men's cards so hard,
We had a to go out this afternoon,  the wind has dropped and although its cloudy and for a change its not raining,  what is left on the trees as way of leaves are turning nicely into shades of gold and bronze,  its a pity the bad weather we had over the last few weeks has ruined the Autumn colours.
Anyway this is a Kanban Image I brought sometime ago I matted it onto a stripped sheet of brown card. The backing sheet which was free with my magazine a few months ago,  of  embossed wild grasses,  I think it goes well with the bird image.  I cut the card in half so the front is split and opens up to reveal more of the backing paper,   should have taken a picture of it open too,    and finished it off with gold ribbon,
He liked it so I hope you do too.
Hope you are having a nice day

Two Antique Brooches

Hi,
Another day of damp foggy weather at least its still mild here,  Hope you are having a nice weekend.
Today I have two brooches which I brought in the market last month,  I have used white no 20 Lizbeth thread on both the top one has gold seed  and crystal beads.  The pink rose one I have put gold seed beads,  neither needed a lot of enhancements in tatting,  I think I got them just about right.

I have another two to do I have enjoyed doing both of these, I hope you like them too.
Until we meet again Take Care

Coffee, Peach and Cream CD Sunday Challenge

 Hi,
What horrible day,  its very windy and raining,  dark and to be honest not a day to go out in.
My card today is for the CD Sunday Challenge of Coffee, Peach and Cream.  It took a while to find an image but in the end I settled for this one from Joanna Sheen CD Patience Strong,  down beside each image there are some of the flowers used used with the poems.  I choose these lilies I printed out three images and decoupage the image and then painted some glitter on them,  Matted the image on peach and cream card which is not showing up too well, and used the backing paper from the image on a cream card. The ribbon down the side is cream with a narrow coffee which I made a double bow at the side.   A spray of cream flowers with some coffee ribbon and peach gems top and bottom.
Added a gold peel off of Happy Birthday.
I am glad I took photos this card yesterday today would have been impossible.

Hope you are having a nice day
Take Care

Sunday 9 November 2014

11th November 1914 to 2014.

Hi,
Today is Remembrance Day here in the UK,   A day which should never be forgotton, this year it has a more reasons to remember,   It's 100 years since the start of the First World War,   I have no idea if I have any family in the First World War,    But both my parents were in the second,  this year I seem to be remembering them both more, perhaps because my mother died in July.
My father was born on the 4th August 1914 and would have been one hundred,  he served in the dental unit of the army and followed the troops though France, Belgium and Holland before coming home on a weeks leave to go to Japan,   That was the week that they dropped the bombs on Japan and he never had to go.
My mother who was a Japanese POW.  in the Second World War,  she was captured by the Japanese and spent two and half years in a POW camp.  I have tried so hard to trace her war record to no avail, no stone has been left unturned in the trace but it's been destroyed, it appears their are hundreds of war records that have gone.
I wear my poppy with pride.
Now with recent wars to remember this day is one this country should never forget.

Renulek's Summer Doily and Ninetta's cross 8/25 Motif Challenge

 Hi,
At last I have finished Renuleks Summer Doily,   I used Lizbeth thread no 20 in Red Burst (which I won from Rachel from Intatters last year) and White.
I find the chains on the outside do bend a bit,  I took so many pictures to try and get the pattern to show up that all my work on pressing it seems to gone by the wind as it looks creased.  at least this is one project finished.  As they say onto the next,  but I have decided what it will be as I have another couple of things to finish first.

This is a pattern I really like which is from Ninetta link to her blog,  I made the two with Lizbeth thread no 20 one in white and one in Purple thread (the purple thread was another ball I won from Rachel) and then tried the same pattern with the beads, again I used the white thread with gold beads,   it came out a but wobbly.   I think its a pattern that needs a bit of practice to prefect.  I did enjoy this pattern and will be doing more.

I hope you are enjoying the weekend

Chinese Parchment

 Hi,
These two cards I made on Sunday I just wanted something different and this is what my mojo ended up with.
I made these two cards  with parchment paper and peel off's ,
The top one is a gold peel off and embossed on the parchment with a parchment border,  matted onto gray miri board and then place onto rainbow card, finished off with a white bow.
This card is a gold dragon placed onto parchment paper and then matted onto gray miri board with a blue backing paper, which has come from a CD I think it might be a Joanna Sheens Cd but I cant remember,  finished off with white ribbon.
Hope you like them.
Until we meet again Take care

CD Sunday Challenge - Silhouettes

Hi,
Another fine day but rain forecasted for tomorrow and hopefully fine on Thursday so we can take our grand daughter out for the day,  while she's off on half team.
This week its Silhouettes I did not find this challenge very easy,   I used up a small piece of backing paper from another card, it fitted the colour scheme perfectly  its from Klever Konstruction  on the shelf once in a lifetime volume one CD,  I used black peel off's for the silhouette, Placed on rainbow paper and matted onto gray miri card.  The leaves are peel off's trailing up the side of the card,  for the flowers again peel off's put onto the same backing paper and cut around,  with blue gems in the middles and on the butterfly wings.  finished off with a blue bow.
Hope you are having a good week

Day Trip around Kos, Greece

Hi,
Today I am going to take around Kos, there are a lot of photos which I have only picked out the best, To start with the first picture above is the sun rise that day from our balcony,  I had so many comments about the view so here's another quick look again.
Among the Greek island which are in the Aegean Sea, Kos is part of the Dodecanese Islands,  Kos is the third largest after Rhodes and Karpathos.  and is 4 nautical miles off Asia (Turkey).  Kos is an oblong shape of 45 km with a coastline of 113 km.
I am not going into Greek morphology but I am going to tell you a little about Hippocrates.
1st level of the hospital

This is the site of the first ever hospital in the world, 26 centuries ago,   it was founded by Hippocrates,  who was a great physician and philosopher and founder of medical science.
Born on Kos in the year 460 BC and died at a very old age in either 375 or 377 BC.
He went around studying with various philosophers before travelling to Egypt and Asia to enhance his knowledge and practised medicine.
Hippocrates was the first who made the most important innovation about dispensing medicine from the oracles and sorcerers,  In other words he made the distinction between medicine and religion, and set the bases for scientific research.  He was the first who classified diseases, methods of diagnosis and treatment.   Despite all the sub-standard knowledge of the period of that time,  he made discoveries as to nature and treatment of diseases are concerned.  So accurate and applicable  are the basis of many drugs today.  His knowledge of how to avoid infections,  on haemostasis as well as surgery, especially in the field of obstetrics and gynaecology are even today considered unrivalled.  He worked how to care for the sick and built the first hospital in the world,
2nd level of the hospital
It was built on three levels,  the first level is for the really sick and then as they got better they went up a level to no 2 and when they were nearly ready to go home they went up to the third level which had a view of Kos and across the sea to Turkey.  Unfortunately my photo does not show Turkey very well,  I was just to far out of range.

View across to Turkey
Third level of the hospital

It was Hippocrates ethics that were so great that he established the ethic code for the medical profession which is still used today by doctors all over the world.

This is a view overlooking Kos and the salt pan region,  they do have Flamingoes living on it.

And onto to Zia,  which is the highest village on Kos,   It is famous for the view of the sunset.  I took these pictures from the coach so they are not the best.

This is the last working windmill on the island

Paradise Beach,  where the air bubbles still come up from the volcanic activity from the nearby volcanic island of Nisyros,  Nisyros is not far away from Kos and there is a trip over to the island where you can right down into the volcano,  we went last time and did not do the trip again.

This is the headland of Kefalos bay,  can you see the man's head ?

Besides the islands immense archaeology sites full of classical Hellenistic, Roman,  Knight,  Turkish and Italian monuments where you can find every period of interest.  Plus the Aegean scenery and endless beaches, crystal clear water and marvellous climate. Kos is now placed among the cosmopolitan islands of the Mediterranean Sea area.   Well worth a visit.

This is the last part of Kos,  I hope you enjoyed this post.
