Kos find

Hi,

We were walking around the town of Karadmara in Kos,   I brought some jewellery for the grand daughters and daughter in law,  and as we were leaving Vernon noticed some tatting,  When I looked it said needle tatting,  its very unusual to find tatting on sale in Greece,  so out came the camera.   The lady in the shop came out and said she made them, ( the picture above is her shop window),  well we ended up having a conversation on tatting,  naturally.
She asked if I had any tatting with me,  well I always take my tatting with me where ever and I said the next time I came into Karadmara I would bring some.
Well I did,  I showed her some snowflakes and the Renulek's mat I am working on. (I will do a separate post on them)  she looked and said they were too fine,  I needed to use thicker thread and they would be bigger, it would be easier on the eyes,
Anyway she showed me her needle,  it was the thickest needle I have ever seen,  I think it would be used on making leather saddles or goods,  her thread is thick too,   she explained she could not buy tatting items so I gave her the web address of Roseground.com.  Unfortunately I don't use tatting needles and I did not have a spare shuttle with me to give her,  I hope she will be able to get a proper tatting needle.
I think I will stick to my no 20 thread and dainty tatting.
I did some tatting by the pool,  it was over 30c so it was too hot to tat for long, Renuleks mat is coming along slowly,  an old lady staying at the hotel stopped and looked,  I think she was Danish and said something which I had no idea what, anyway the next day she was back again and said in English that it was lovely,  I thought that was nice of her.
I will post my holiday tatting in another post.
Hope you are having a lovely weekend
Until we meet again Take care

Water / Male Birthday

Hi,

It seems ages since I wrote anything on here,  we had a brilliant holiday and I have some brilliant photos to share,   unfortunately I came home with a cold/flu virus whatever and I have been really poorly with it.   Anyway yesterday I put my best foot forward and made this card for two challenges.
The card was made from CD Klever Konstruction on the shelf, once in a lifetime volume one,  this is from the toppers selection,   I wanted something different and I found this one,  I think its fits the water challenge perfectly and also fits in with the CD Sunday challenge of Male birthday.
I used the water paper on the base of the easel card, and the main image on the top half of the card,  matted it onto blue card and added the same blue card on the base to say Happy Birthday with gold peel off's and finished off the card with gold peel off bits, and a blue bow.

Side view of card,  unfortunately the light changed the blue a bit sorry.

I am entering this card into the CD Sunday Challenge,  male birthday and Cardz 4 Guyz challenge water.

I hope you are all keeping well,

                      Hugs

Design Tutorial Snowflake 4/25 Motif Challenge

Hi,

This is the last scheduled post,   this beautiful snowflake is by Robin Perfetti called Design Tutorial Snowflake,   I used white Lizbeth thread inside and Ice Blue Lizbeth Thread on the outside,  I was going to do it the other way around but the white was already on the shuttles.  I plan to make more of these next time blue in the middle and white on the outside,  I have taken the pattern on holiday so hopefully will have another one to show you.  Link to her blog.   Thank you Robin for creating a beautiful snowflake on your ipad.
Until we meet again Take care

Tatted Coasters (Marion) 3/25 Motif challenge

Hi,

Another schedule post,   today I am showing a set of coasters, 6 in all.   I made they are from the pattern Marion by Jennifer Williams,  I still have a few ends to sew in and they need blocking but I wanted to get this on my blog before I went away.    I am really pleased how this pattern worked out and will be doing more.  I tatted them in Lizbeth thread no 20.
Hope you are keeping well, until we meet again Take care

Mirabelle 2/25 Motif Challenge

Hi,

By the time you read this,   I am sitting on the beach in Kos,   hopefully the sun will be shining the weather forecast says it will and 30c brilliant,  this really is a much needed rest and holiday.
This is s scheduled post I made these snowflakes in Sheffield when I went up two weeks ago for a check up on my eye,   It was good news and I don't have to go up again for six months.    I wish my hand would be as good,  I am now having Physio on it,  I might add the Physio lady had not heard of tatting, so she had a quick demo.  My hand has got worse over the last couple of months and swollen up to the point of not being able to wear my rings,   I have been only doing a small amount of tatting and knitting hence there is not much to show you.  The Physio says tatting and knitting are good exercise but only do a small amount until the hand hurts.
These snowflakes are a pattern called Mirabelle by lacossette,   I love her patterns and this is another lovely pattern link to her blog.  I will be making more of these gorgeous snowflakes.   I used Lizbeth thread no 20 in white.
Until we meet again Take care and see you soon

Get Well

Hi,
Today's card is for the CD Sunday Challenge which is Get Well,  for this card I used Joanna Sheens CD The Pamela West Collection,  I wanted something different and for a man,  they do get ill and there is not a lot of cards for men,  so hopefully this card fits the bill so to speak.
I used the dog image and backing paper to match with a blue ribbon down the side and a spray of flowers with matching narrower ribbon in the spray.   The flowers have a lovely shine on them and I found them in the Craft Shack in Millets Garden Centre Abingdon when we were up there over bank holiday.
I hope this card fits the challenge.
Update thanks to Carzo this card has also been entered into Mans Best friend challenge at Cardz4guyz.blogspot.co.uk
Until we meet again
Take care
Hugs
